Badrinath is in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand. Here, the Badrinath temple is located at Garhwal hill tracks along the banks of Alkanda river. People refer the temple as ‘Badrinarayan temple’ and is of Lord Vishnu. The temple is Chota Chardham pilgrimage and even one of the Char Dham.
Usually, Badrinath temple is open for six months in a year. Mostly, the temple is open between the end of April and the beginning of November. And, it is because of weather conditions in Himalayan regions.
SIGNIFICANCE OF BADRINATH TEMPLE
Actually, the name Badrinath refers to ‘Badri’ meaning ‘berries’ and Nath meaning ‘Lord’. In addition, the Bhagavata Purana, Skanda Purana, and Mahabharata mention the Badrinath temple. Lord Vishnu self-manifested himself in the form of a statue.
Mata Murti Ka Mela, which refers to river Ganges is the most important festival celebrated in the Badrinath temple.
Hindu scriptures also refers to Badrinath as Badri or Badarikaashram. According to Skanda purana, there are several sacred shrines in heaven, on earth, and in hell but there is no shrine like Badrinath. The Garwhal kings built the structure of the temple.

The temple is open from 4:30 AM to 9 PM and it remains close between 1 PM to 4 PM.

Badrinath is a Hindu pilgrimage destination. It can be reached by all modes of transportation Air, Road,and Train.
BY AIR
Dehradun airport is 317 km from Badrinath. Jolly grant airport and it is the nearest airport from Badrinath.
BY HELICOPTER
There are many services available from Dehradun. It is hardly 100 km journey in Helicopter.
BY BUS
The regular bus services are available from Delhi, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. The bus services are available before evening time. The road after Joshimath is narrow so vehicles are not allowed after sunset. For instance, the road from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Dev Prayag, Rudra Prayag, Kotdwar, Joshi Math and other hill stations of Garhwal and Kumaon region also connects to Badrinath.
BY TRAIN
Haridwar provides a good facility for the train to Badrinath. After that, even Rishikesh and Kotadwar connect the train to Badrinath. There are less number of trains from Kotadwar and Rishikesh does not have faster trains. If you are planning to travel by train Haridwar is a good option. Various regions of India also connects the train to Badrinath.
