Mahabaleshwar Temple is situated in Gokarna on Koti Teertha main Highway. This Temple is the nearest location where Gangavali and Agnashini meet, both are the most important river in South India.

History of Gokarna Temple

Mahadev’s Atma Linga and Ravana

Ravana had obtained the Atma Linga from Mahadev after severe penance and he was carrying it from Mount Kailash to Lanka. On the way, Lord Ganesh tricked Ravana into parting with the Atma Linga at this spot in Gokarna.
