Kedarnath temple opening details. Day to Day update of the proccession carrying the idol of Shiva to Kedarnath temple.
Kedarnath Temple opens on Shubh Mahurat of Akshay Tritya. Normally, the Kedarnath Temple remains close on the day of Bhai Dooj i.e November, during Diwali. After Pooja Archana in morning, the saints close the Kedarnath Temple. Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham kapat remains closed from November. Then the temple again re-opens in the first week of May.
When the temple is closed the idol of Lord Shiva resides in Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath. Then, a procession takes back the idol to Kedarnath at the time of its opening.
Kedarnath Kapat Opening Details
5th MAY – Bhairavnath, the gatekeeper of Kedarnath is worshipped on 5th of may.
6th MAY – The procession on 6th may will begin and carry the idol of Lord Shiva to the Kedarnath temple. The Panchmuki Doli begins from Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath, Uttrakhand. The procession will reach Phata. It will make a night stay at Phata.
7th MAY – Next morning, 7th May the procession from Phata will proceed for Gaurikund. The same day it will reach Gaurikund in evening and will stay at night in Gaurikund.
8th MAY – On the morning of 8th May the procession will cover a trek of 16 km to Kedarnath and place the idol there at 5 pM in the Evening.
9th MAY- The Kapat for darshan will open from 5:30 AM to 5:42 AM.
