Melmaruvathur Temple History

It is interesting to know about the story of Om Shakti Temple.

The place has been considered sacred for the last 2000 years. This is the place where the lives of 21 Siddha men and women are buried. These Siddhars belong to different religions.

This is the holy land where the woman smells Siddhar and gives blessings. In this sacred land at Melmaruvathur, where the present Siddhar Pidam is worshipped, stood a neem tree and a large snake’s den beneath it.

One day in the 1960s, milk started coming from that neem tree. Surprised by this miracle, the people of the surrounding village drank the flowing milk and realized that it was a divine event. Although neem juice is always bitter, milk is delicious and sweet.

On November 28, 1966, there was a severe storm in Tamil Nadu. In the pouring rain, a pile of cobras under a neem tree went underwater. The neem tree was also uprooted by the gusts of wind. The self-existent deity emerged under the uprooted neem tree. From then the Om Shakthi Temple became stable and is worshipped in Melmaruvathur.
