Saptashrungi Devi Temple is a famous Shakti Peeth in India, located in the hills of Vani near Nashik. It is one of the three and a half Shakti Peeths of Maharashtra and also one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in India. The name “Saptashrungi” comes from “Sapta” meaning seven and “Shrungi” meaning peaks, referring to the seven mountain peaks around the temple.

This means that Saptashrungi Nivasini Devi lives on seven mountain peaks. Saptashrungi is a group of seven hills in the Western Ghats with an average height of 4500 feet above sea level. There are 108 water bodies in the area surrounding the temple.

The three-and-a-half Shaktipeeths in Maharashtra are Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur, Tulja Bhavani, Renuka Mata Temple in Mahur and Saptashrungi Temple. These four temples represent the four parts of Omkara: A – U – M and Bindu.

It is not clear which of these is the ‘Ardh-Shaktipeeth’. It is believed the right hand of Mata Sati fell at this spot.
