Temple Re-opening in Tamil Nadu Post Lockdown

Lockdown is slowly fading and life is getting back to normal now. Hence, major temples in India are reopening now for the devotees.

Here is a list of Major Temples Opening in Tamil Nadu with other important details.

About 3000 temples in and around Chennai are set to be reopened on Monday following the government’s decision to relax lockdown conditions.

Temple authorities in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts have started cleaning and sanitizing operations in temples and setting up barricades to control queues.

On the need for reopening temples, an official of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department said that apart from protests by a section of people, devotees were calling up their recently launched helpline to get the temples to open.

Lockdown in Tamil Nadu – Rameshwaram Jyotirling Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple open or close

We recently learned from our users that there are a few updates related to the Lockdown in Ramnathpuram Dist – Ramnath Swamy Mandir. Temple will be closed from 1st Aug 2021 to 3rd Aug 2021 to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Darshan will not be available during this time.

In similar updates, Madurai Minakshi Temple will be closed as well from 1st Aug to 8th Aug 2021. Meanwhile, all major temples of Chennai are closed from 1st Aug to 8th Aug 2021.

Protocol and Rules to be Followed :

The same set of protocols as the last time will be followed. Devotees will not be allowed to lie down or sit down inside the prakarams. They will not be allowed to touch idols on the walls or ring bells.

Senior citizens above 60 years of age, anyone with comorbidities, children below 10 years of age and women who are pregnant will not be allowed inside.
