Thiruthani Murugan Temple is a Hindu temple, on the hill of Thiruthani in the state of Tamil Nadu. Temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan (Karthikeya). The hill of the temple has 365 steps indicating 365 days of the year.
The temple is one of the six holy adobe of Lord Murugan. Temple is believed to build by the Pallava king during the 9th century- 10th century CE. Later the temple is renovated by the Chola kings.
History of Thiruthani Murugan Temple
Lord Rama after killing the Ravana, worshipped Lord Shiva at Rameshwaram and then came to Tiruttani to find perfect peace of mind. In Dwapara, Arjun got the blessings of Lord Murugan when he was on his way to Teertha yatra in the Southern part of India.
Lord Vishnu prayed to Lord and got back his powerful chakra which was forcefully taken from Him by Tarakasura, brother of Soorapdma.
On worshipping the lord at Thanikai, the king of Snakes Vasuki got his bodily wounds healed, which has been caused due to “Samudra Manthan” by the devas and asuras when the Mantotra Mountain was used as churning base and the snake king Vasuki as the rope.
