The Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek will test your strength if you wish to feed your inner explorer. Prepare to become lost in the majestic Himalayas. The Chandrashila trek gives panoramic views of Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba peaks. You will be at a height of around 3,690 m (12,110 ft) above sea level.

Day-to-Day Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek 

There are a few suggested routes for the Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek. The itineraries depend on the amenities and your stay. Many treks start at Kund Camp or Sari Village. 

The route is non-sequential. So don’t confuse it with the route seen on the maps you find online. If you have trouble with maps, you shouldn’t worry too much. 

You can choose the best route the locals can suggest. Or follow the advice of other hikers or the tour guide. We recommend choosing the Sari to Chandrashila route.

Day – 1: Reach Sari From Haridwar

Sari is the charming base camp for the fantastic Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek. You need to drive from Haridwar to Sari, which is in the Rudraprayag district. The journey is around 8 hours. Trekkers can find Dharamshalas and Hotels at Rudraprayag.

The majority of the time, trekkers use Sari(Rudraprayag) as a stopover. The next day they leave for Deoria Tal. You can see the stunning sight created by the lofted landmass. Continue taking in the best views of this mesmerizing trek.

Day – 2: Sari To Deoria Tal

Three kilometers separate Sari from the lovely Deoria Tal campground. The trekkers reach a height of 1300 feet throughout the entire trip. It roughly takes an hour to finish.

You come to encounter a Hawa Ghar, built by the forest department. Hawa Ghar is halfway along the trip through the maple forest. At 8000 feet, the green lake is a stunning sight hidden between enormous rocks.

You pass by expanses of farmland, historic temples, and a few hamlets while on the trip. Once you arrive in Deoria Tal, you discover astonishing vantage spots to calm your eyes. At the campsite beside the lake, an overnight stay in tents is planned.

Day – 3: Deoria Tal to Chopta

On the third day of your Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek, say goodbye to Mount Chaukhamba, which towers over the lovely Deoria Tal Lake. This is the Tungnath Chandrashila Trek’s main day. Now you have climbed another 1000 feet in elevation. Moreover, you have to travel along risky alleys and pathways in the deep forest. The trekkers usually aim to cover this 14 kilometers between Deoria Tal and Chopta in around 9 hours.

The hike starts out with a slow incline and then descends quickly. You may find a few watering holes along the way. This is close to Rohini Bugyal, Akash Kamini Waterfall, and Bhrujgali. 

You will enjoy excellent views when exploring Rohini Bugyal and the surrounding forest. The chattering of Himalayan birds is mesmerizing. The Bugyal region is famous for its breathtaking sunsets. You can find shepherds’ modest houses around the slopes by following the trail.

As charming as they seem, you will find some locals and relax before continuing your journey. Following a full day of trekking, you arrive at Chopta in the evening. 

Day – 4: Chopta to Chandrashila

On day four, there will be more excitement. This circuit’s Chopta Tungnath trek will pass a 1,000-year-old Shiva temple. It is one of its main attractions. It will take you roughly 5 hours to go the 8 km between Chopta and Chandrashila. This is due to the steep ascent and abrupt elevation. 

The famous Tungnath Temple is at a height of 12000 feet. You will see this temple on the route from Tungnath to Chandrashila. It is only a kilometer away. Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world. To know more about Tungnath temple, you can read our blog here. 

You should bring enough water to stay hydrated on the day 4 of Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek. The distance from here to Chandrashila Peak is 1.5 kilometers.

After that, it takes extra 45 minutes to reach the peak from the Upper Chandrashila base. The Kumaon and Garhwal hills are visible from the peak in all directions. Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Kamet, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, Kedar Dome, Thalaysagar, Gangotri ranges, and Jahanukut are a few of the noteworthy peaks that trekkers can see from here.

Using the same route, you can get back to Chopta Valley in less than two hours. Spend the night in Chopta; there are a few dharamshala and hotels to make your stay pleasant.

Day – 5 Chopta to Haridwar

It is the last day of the Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek. After a delicious breakfast, you can return to Haridwar. You can return to Haridwar Train Station by the evening. We are sure this will be one of the most exhilarating treks of your life.

How To Reach Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek?

Via air: The closest airport to Chopta is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. The 211 km drive in a private vehicle from the airport to Sari Village in Chopta takes about 6.5 hours.

Via rail: The closest railhead is Haridwar. It has good connections to the majority of Indian cities. From Haridwar, you can take a taxi or a local bus to Sari Village. This serves as the starting point for the Chandrashila Trek.

By road: From Haridwar to Chopta, there are taxis, government buses, and private buses. In a little, less than 8 hours, cover 200 miles.
