Significance of Guru Purnima
A guru is a person who guides you to the right path. A guru is someone who always informs the world with their teachings and knowledge. He advises us to follow the path of justice and teaches us the reality of misconceptions and thoughts.
Most of the time, we are unclear of which path to take, so seek advice and blessings from mother and father, the first Gurus who will never lead you wrong.
Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, celebrates the birth anniversary of Ved Vyasa, the author of the Mahabharata. On this day, people commemorate Vyasa by memorizing his works and honouring his contributions to the Hindu religion.
For Buddhists, Guru Purnima commemorates the day when Lord Buddha gave his first speech at Sarnath after achieving enlightenment. This event is known as Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, where Buddha explained the principles of Dharma to his first five shishya (followers).

History of Guru Purnima
According to Hindu mythology, this good day celebrates the birth of one of the most famous sages, Vyasa, the son of the sage Parashar. According to the Vedas, he was a supernatural child who knew all three Kaals: Bhoot Kaal, Vartamaan Kaal and Bhiavishya Kaal.
He divided the Vedas into four parts because he predicted that people would become spiritually and religiously neutral and he modified them to make their contents easier to share. That is why he is considered an old Guru and this day is also known as Vyas Purnima.
