The Rudra Gufa is situated 3583 meters uphill and it is 1 km away from the Kedarnath temple. the cave faces the Kedarnath temple. It is the meditation cave.
It is maintained and developed by GMVN(Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam). The exterior is made of stones and it has a wooden door for entry.
There is also a telephone available inside in case of any emergency you can contact the manager. Also an Intercom bell in the cave, Always a 24-hour attendant is present near the bell. If you require anything you can use the bell to call the attendant for any kind of assistance.
Recently the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Kedarnath for Tapasya for a day from 18 May afternoon to 19 May morning.
you can book the cave on the GMVN website. After the due process, pilgrims will be briefed about the precaution and process in GMVN Kedarnath. You need to undergo two medical tests, one at Guptkashi and another one at Kedarnath. You need to report at the GMVN office at Guptkashi for a medical checkup before 2 days of booking and only after being declared physically fit you are allowed to stay. The cost of booking a cave is 990 Rupees. Only one person can stay at a time.

The Dharamshala is located in the center of Kedarnath. The temple is just 100 meters from the Dharamshala. Food facilities are available as per choice in the bhojanshala.
This ashram is a good option for families and group tourists. The views of the Himalayan glaciers are great from here. The temple is just 50 meters far from here.
Shankracharya Samadhi is just walking distance from here. Other transportation facilities are easily available from here.
