The Juna Akhara was established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya to protect religion and religious places. After establishing 4 mutts at 4 Dhams of India[ Badrinath, Puri, Dwarka, Rameshwaram] Adi Guru Shankaracharya established some Akharas and Juna Akhara is one of them.
The establishment of Juna Akhara is in the 12th century and the exact year is 1259 AD. The registration of Juna Akhara was in 1860. The registration of Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara is in Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad in the year 1954.
At the time of establishment, the name of Juna Akhara was “Bhairav Akhara”.
