Places to visit in Belur Math 

Sri Ramakrishna Temple 

The temple was dedicated on 14 January 1928, Which was conceived by SwamiVivekananda.This temple enshrines the sacred relics of Swami Ramakrishna. The motive of various religions is incorporated in this temple.

Thus it symbolises the harmony of religions taught by Sri Ramakrishna. It has a place among modern temples of India architecturally. It is also known as the heart of Math. So one must visit this temple with such glory.

Swami Brahmananda Temple

Swami Brahmananda (1863-1922), who was one among 16 monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna is only next to Swami Vivekananda.

Swamiji was the first president of the Math and Mission. The temple of Swami was built on the spot where Brahmananda’s body was cremated which was dedicated in 1924.

Swami Vivekananda’s Room

Swami Vivekananda  Room is from the south-east of the old Shrine. The great Swami lived here and attained his Mahasamadhi on 04 July 1902. This room has many articles preserved which were used by him at different places and times.

The visitors and devotees meet Swamiji under the mango tree where he used to camp cot which is in the courtyard in front of the room. So it has a good environment for the visitors to get acknowledged with the great saints remains.

Swami Vivekananda Temple

The spot where the temple was built is the place where Swamiji’s mortal remains were cremated in 1902. The temple was a 2 storeyed structure and there is a marble shrine of OM in Bengali on the upper floor and the ground floor there is a Swamiji shrine made of marble with reliefs of Swamiji.

There is a Bel tree outside the temple where the Swamiji got cremated as per his wish and that was the same tree under which he used to sit every time thus one must visit this temple to see the remains of the great saint.

Holy Mother Temple

The temple of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi is situated near a wide bathing ghat. This temple was built on the place where the remains of her mortal cremate were consigned to flames in 1920. The temple was constructed on Dec 21st 1921.

The temple was built in such a way that it faces the river Ganga as the mother used to love the river Ganga. It becomes a must-visit place for one who is seeking peace in life.

Ramakrishna Sangraha Mandir Museum

The museum was opened on May 13th 1994 in an old building of math. To preserve the moments and memories of great prophets of the modern age Sri Sardadevi, Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekanand with their lay and monastic disciple and cherish the great contribution they made.

They placed the ideals of the Ramakrishna movement in this museum and the remains of the ideas and their lives here for one to get the right path on the spiritual journey of their life. Visiting this museum will give visitors an idea of the spiritual journey of their life.

The nearest Airport to the Belur Math is Netaji Subhas Chandra International  Airport which is 9.2km. So it is convenient for one to get domestic as well as international flights to reach the math. at a break of every half an hour. The ferry charges are Rs 10 for going once and vice versa.
