“Bura na mano Holi hain” – Finally the wait is over. Mathura has decided to organize a big Holi celebration for all the devotees in 2026.
Once, Lord Krishna, the playful god of love, had streaked the colors on Radha. This is how it became a big day of celebration in Mathura and Vrindavan from that day.
Besides this, Holi is a celebration of not only colors; it is the festival of showing love and purity with the ability of forgiveness and starting a new journey with vibrant colors. It also carries one famous story of Hiranyakashipu and Prahalad. Read the paragraph given below to learn more about this.

History of Holi
Holi’s history is also known as the “Holika” name from “Holika Dahan.”
According to Hindu Scriptures, the demon king of Hiranyakashipu was blessed with the boon that neither a man nor an animal could kill him. Because of this, he became so egoistic and ruled over his kingdom that everyone started worshipping him as a god.
After a certain situation, Hiranyakashipu also asked his son to worship only him as a god, but Prahalad was a pure devotee of Lord Vishnu, so he refused his father’s thing and continued to worship Lord Vishnu. After this, Hiranyakashipu got angry and asked her sister (Holika), who has flame-retardant cloth, to kill him. Holika took Prahalad on her lap and sat in the fire. Prahalad prayed for his protection from Lord Vishnu. At that moment, he survived and Holika got burned.
This is how people celebrate the Holika Dahan right before the day of Holi celebration by building a big bonfire, throwing grains, coconuts and other offerings into the fire while praying.
