Many years ago, a group of children in Gowdagere village built a small temple on a farm using bricks, twigs and leaves. One boy found a tiny idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari and they began praying. The boy, Mallesh, who found the idol, soon started fainting, but an astrologer revealed he was blessed with divine powers. During the trance, he received a message from the goddess to build a proper temple at that spot.
