Ganga Sagar Island
Sagar Island or the Ganga Sagar Tirth Dham is an important place for Hindu Pilgrimage. The holy river Ganga confluences in the Bay of Bengal here. People take a dip in the holy Ganga river and offer prayers at the Kapil Muni temple.
The second largest mela also called “GANGASAGAR MELA” held at this place and it has its own importance to do “SHAHI SNAN” at Gangasagar delta.
There is a popular tagline which goes as:
सारे तीर्थ बार बार गंगा सागर एक बार
which means the blessings earned by visiting Ganga Sagar once are equivalent to those gained by visiting other pilgrimage destinations several times.
Location
Ganga Sagar is located around 110 km to the south of Kolkata in the state of West Bengal. The island is also known as ‘Sagardwip’. The nearest major city and airport is Kolkata. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata provides connectivity to almost all the major cities of India.
How to Reach Gangasagar
To reach Ganga Sagar one has to avail of Ferry Service from Kakdwip or Naamkhana town.
Kakdwip and Namkhana have located 92 km and 104 km respectively from Kolkata. One can reach Kakdwip and Namkhana by railways or roadways.
The train timings to reach both Kadwip and Namkhana are scheduled keeping the Ferry service timings in mind. Ferry service points in both these towns are located near the railway stations themselves. Taxis, as well as Bus services, are available from Kolkata to reach these Ferry Services points.
Please note that the timings provided are to the best of our knowledge. Minor changes might be observed in the timings due to high tides and low tides.

How to Reach Gangasagar by Road
Gangasagar is located near Kolkata so it is a better option to come to Kolkata by suitable transportation option and take a private cab, Taxi or bus from Kolkata. It is only a 2-hour journey to Ganga Sagar from Kolkata.
The nearby busstand to Gangasagar is K2 Bus Terminus Gangasagar.

Would like to go to Gangasagar on 16th March 2020 by INNOVA from Howrah station and return on the same day. How much will it cost ?
Taxi fare from Kolkata to Gangasagar is around Rs.1588. Distance between Gangasagar and kolkata is around 135 km.
