History says that the two demons Malla and Mani were disturbing Earth and distressing the Guru. The sages asked for help from Shiva when Lord Vishnu and Indra admitted their Incapability. Shiva went for a fight with demons along with his army in the form of Khandoba.
His avatar is described as having a third eye with a semi-circle moon on the forehead and a body covered with Turmeric. After a long fight, Khandoba finally kills the Demons.
