History of Kukke Temple
According to the story, Lord Shanmukh (Kartikeya) came to Kumar Dhara with his brother Lord Ganesha after killing Tarakasur. Lord Indra welcomed him and asked him to marry his daughter, Devsena. Lord Kartikeya married Devsena there.
At this time, ‘Nagraj Vasuki‘ was meditating. Lord Kartikeya was pleased with his devotion and assured him that he would stay with Devsena as a divine power.
This place is described as Gupta Kshera and is also revered as one of the seven Moksha Points by Lord Parshurama. At this place, snake worship (Nag Aaradhana) has been performed since ancient times. Lord Vasuki fulfils devotees’ wishes with Lord Subramanya’s (Lord Kartikeya’s) blessings.
