Maa Sharda Devi Temple on Trikuta Hill in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, is dedicated to Sharda Devi, also known as Maihar Devi locally. The Temple of Maa Sharda Devi in Maihar is one of the most important Shakti peeths.
It is believed that the necklace of the goddess Parvati fell at this place. 1063 steps are taken to reach the Temple. Maihar means mother’s necklace.
Maihar is an ancient pilgrimage site and the present temple was first built in about 502 CE. Locals and foreigners visit it quite frequently to offer their prayers, especially during Navratri.
The temple also has smaller shrines dedicated to Ganesh Ji, Kartik Swami (Murugan) and Adi Shankaracharya.
Enshrined in the temple is a unique Panchdhatu Murti made of gold, silver, copper, brass and lead.
