Malshej Ghat – An Adventurous and Heavenly Tour

Malshej Ghat is located 700 m above sea level in Pune,  Maharashtra. It is known for its adventurous trekking, hiking and is the best place to visit for adventurous people and families.

Malshej Ghat is a  motorable scenic route.  It has beautiful waterfalls falling from all over the tall mountains below the road which creates an unforgettable view. It is also famous for trekking as it is covered with mountains. Around the Malshej Ghat, there are a number of forts in the mountains.

The Malshej Ghat is covered with the beauty of mountains that contain intense greenery, waterfalls, forests, and flora.  During the monsoon, the ghat is covered with dense clouds making it invisible to watch roads.

Malshej Ghat starts 12 km away from a village named Sawarne and ends at MTDC, Deccan. It also connects Pune and Thane. It comes under major state highway 2. Malshej Ghat was mainly constructed for transportation services but soon it has taken place among hill stations, tourist destinations, and trekking destinations.

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj climbed up the Malshej Ghat via bhoj Darya and Sindolya fort. The ghat is surrounded by several mountains like Bhojgiri, Daundya, Naneghat, Harishchandragad, and various forts.

Though it’s a beautiful place and safety measures are taken, the ghat is prone to landslides and rockfalls. There are many caves under the mountain that contain small temples of Lord Ganesha and Shiv.

Several viewpoints are made over Malshej ghat making it an attraction for tourists visiting there. It is a peaceful place where you can spend quality time with your friends and families away from the busy routine life.

The best time to visit Malshej ghat is during the Monsoon when a number of visitors come to see the clouds touching mountains and mountains surrounded by beautiful waterfalls. The nearest accommodation from Malshej ghat is at the end at MTDC. Other accommodations are far from the Ghat.
