Swayambhu Murti found in Ant Hill
A gardener who was working to clear a snake pit or Ant Hill (Vanmeekam) discovered the Murti and immediately informed the then Pandyan king. The king considered this to be a good omen and built a temple over the Murti. A city soon developed around the temple.
