Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple History
Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, fought and killed the demon Tarkasur. After killing Tarkasur, he felt guilty for taking the life of a demon. So he asked Lord Vishnu for a solution to atone for his sins.
Lord Vishnu told him that he was a demon and with his powers, he harassed the common people. So you haven’t committed any sins. Still, if you feel guilty, you have to worship Shiva and take his blessings.
To find peace and forgiveness, Kartikeya made a Shiva temple at the war place here. That place is now known as the Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple.
It is believed that the Shivalinga appeared here on its own from the earth and has been worshipped for thousands of years. Over time, the temple has been rebuilt many times, but the spiritual energy and peaceful feelings of the place have always remained the same.
