Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple History
Kartikeya, the son of Shiva, killed the demon Tarkasur. As Tarkasur was the biggest devotee of Shiva, he felt guilty for killing a Shiva devotee. So he asked Lord Vishnu for a solution to atone for his sins.
Lord Vishnu told him that he was a demon and with his powers, he harassed the common people. So you haven’t committed any sins. Still, if you feel guilty, you have to worship Shiva and take his blessings.
So Kartikeya made a Shiva temple at the war place here. Today, it is famous as the Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple.
