Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Do’s and Don’ts During Visit

Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings, attracting millions of devotees and seekers from across the world. It is celebrated once every 12 years, and it is important to prepare for this monumental event to make the most of your experience while respecting its sanctity.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is going to be held in Prayagraj, the city is famous for the Triveni Sangam, a holy confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. A dip in the Triveni River has been followed since mythological times. River Ghats are built along the river banks so that devotees can sit and take a holy dip in the river water.

Mythological Story of Maha Kumbh Mela

Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world and comes from the ancient Hindu mythological tale of Samudra Manthan. Once upon a time Devas and Asuras joined forces to Churn the Ksheera Sagar (Ocean of Milk) to obtain divine nectar known as Amrit. The nectar is so powerful that if somebody drank even a drop of it, they would become immortal and never die. The pot of nectar, known as Kumbh, eventually emerged from the ocean.

The Gods and Demons fought over this pot but Lord Vishnu snatched the pot from the demons and flew to heaven. While he was flying some drops fell on some places on Earth such as Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik and hence these places host the Kumbh Mela to celebrate the mythological event.

During certain celestial alignments, it is believed that the spiritual energy at the Maha Kumbh sites becomes stronger and it gives a chance to devotees to wash away their sins and achieve spiritual freedom. This grand event symbolises the triumph of good over evil and humanity’s timeless desire for eternal peace and liberation.
