Shri Durgiana Temple is situated in Amritsar, Punjab. This is a Hindu temple where Goddess Durga is worshipped along with the statue of Hanuman outside the temple. The Temple’s name is derived from the name of the goddess Durga.

Shri Durgiana Temple is located at the centre of Sarovar where there is a path made with white marble to walk and to reach the temple. The temple is similar to the Golden Temple i.e.., Sri Harmandir Sahib due to its dome and canopies. An idol of the goddess Laxmi and the god Vishnu are located and worshipped in the temple.

History and Facts about Shri Durgiana Temple

This temple was built in the 16th century in the year 1921 by the same architect who built the golden temple.

Both the temples are similar to each other i.e. Shri Durgiana temple (silver temple) and Shri Harimandir sahib(golden temple) due to their dome and canopies.

This Temple is also known as the silver temple because of the silver doors of the temple.

On the forecourt of the temple, there is a tree where Lava and Kusha jumped Hanuman after the captured challenge horse of the Ashvamedha yajna. 

There is a handwritten copy of Ramayana in this temple which is written by Tulsidas. Shri Durgiana Temple has a special temple which is dedicated to him.

Festivals Celebrated in Shri Durgiana Temple 

The Festival is celebrated during Shravan month known as the sawan festival where a newlyweds couple comes together to worship lord Krishna and Radha. Women wear jewellery made from flowers and pray together at the temple with their husbands.

Another festival is celebrated which is the festival of the temple i.e..,langur mela which is celebrated during the 10 days of Navratri and Dussehra where children dress up as langurs and hanuman and visit the Bada hanuman temple.
