Bahuchara Mata Story
This temple is an ancient pilgrimage with many stories connected to it. The temple, as seen today was built by Manaji Gaekwad of Baroda after he was cured of an illness in 1783. The temple stands in a courtyard protected by four gates. Besides the main temple, there are two other temples dedicated to Bahuchara Mata here.
The first is Adhyasthan (original), near the Varakhadi tree where Mataji first appeared. The second is Madhyasthan (middle). The complex has smaller shrines dedicated to Neelkanth Mahadev, Shri Ganesh, Shri Hanuman, and more. Among the main attractions here are the Varakhadi Tree, where Mataji first appeared and the Jharokha-styled gates.
The main festivals celebrated here are Purnima (Full Moon Day), Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali.
