Places to visit near Nashik

1. Trimbakeshwar temple

Trimbakeshwar is an ancient Hindu temple in the town of Trimbak. It is dedicated to the god Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is in the Trimbakeshwar tehsil in the Nashik District. The jyotirlinga is 28 km from the city of Nashik. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak.

2. Sapatshrungi

Sapatshrungi is located in Nanduri, Kalwan taluka, a small village near Nashik in India. Saptashrungi is a site of Hindu pilgrimage situated 60 Km from Nashik. ‘Sapta’ means seven and ‘shrug’ means peaks. According to Hindu traditions, the goddess Saptashrungi Nivasini dwells within the seven mountain peaks. There are 510 steps to climb the gad. Devotees visit this place in large numbers every day. The temple is also known popularly as one of the “three and a half Shakti Peethas” of Maharashtra. The temple is also one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is a location where one of Sati’s limbs, her right arm is reported to have fallen.

3. Kalaram Temple

The Kalaram Temple is an old Hindu shrine dedicated to Rama in the Panchavati area. It is probably the most important Hindu shrine in the city. The temple derives its name from the statue of Lord Rama which is black. The sanctum sanctorum also houses the statues of goddess Sita and god Lakshmana. The main entrance has a Lord Hanuman deity which is black. There is also a very old tree that has Lord Dattatreya’s footprint impressions marked on a stone.

4. Brahmagiri hills

Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. It is believed that Saint Gautam brought the River Godavari to the hills by praying Lord Shiva.

5. Dugarwadi Waterfall

Dugarwadi waterfall is 30 Km from Nashik on Trimbakeshwar road. In the monsoon season, people are advised to take care as the water level suddenly rises.

6. Ganga Ghat

Ganga Ghat is one of the holy places in Nashik. People come here to put the remains of the bodies of the dead people and perform the last rituals. This place looks stunning at night. The famous Kumbh Mela is also held here. Ganga Ghat is surrounded by many small temples. People come here for the holy dip in the river. It is a very peaceful and nice place with a lovely environment and greenery everywhere.

7. Jain Mandir

Jain Mandir is a sprawling and elaborate structure. The structure consists of three stories. Temple is built mainly in white marble and pink sand. You can find here the 12-ton heavy deity of the 24th of Tirthankara of the Jains.

8. Gangadwar

Gangadwar, which means the passage or way of Ganga. This name is drawn from the legends related to Ganga and Brahmagiri Hills. To reach Gangadwar, tourists have to climb approximately 750 steps.

9. Sundarnarayan Temple

The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, called Narayan. To the left and right are Shri Lakshmi and Shri Saraswati respectively. This ancient Hindu shrine is adorned by paintings & intricate carvings. There are small carvings of Hanuman, Narayana, and Indira on the walls. Due to the curse, Lord Vishnu turned black and ugly. Lord Vishnu took bath in the Godavari and was relieved from the curse of Jalandhar’s wife Vrinda. Hence, Lord Vishnu is called Shri Sundar Narayan here.

10. Shirdi

Shirdi is a city in the jurisdiction of the municipal council popularly known as Shirdi Nagar Panchayat. it is famously known as the home of the late 19th-century saint Sri baba. The Sri Saibaba Sansthan Trust also located in Shirdi is one of the richest temple organizations.
