Discover the History of Swarnagiri Temple
Swarnagiri Sree Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam is a holy pilgrimage site located on Manepally Hills, Telangana. The word “Swarnagiri” means “Golden Hill,” symbolising the divine aura of the temple premises. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara and is inspired by the famous Tirumala Tirupati temple. It is a spiritual retreat for devotees seeking peace and blessings.
The idea to build the Swarnagiri Temple came from a personal and emotional experience of the Manepally family. In 2016, Mr. Rama Rao’s wife, Vijayalaxmi, met with a major accident on an escalator and went into a coma. Her several bones were broken and doctors had lost hope. Someone brought tirtham (holy water) from Tirupati and it brought her life back. She started to recover, which was a hidden miracle.
To thank Lord Venkateshwara for this blessing, the Manepally family decided to use their land to build a temple. They wanted a place to be devoted and also a way to remember the miracle that changed their lives. It took more than seven years to get the temple in its present form.
Inside the temple, the idol of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is 12 feet tall, which gives a strong sense of divine presence. The temple is built on a small scenic hill that offers peaceful views and a calm atmosphere. Temple architecture ranges from the detailed carvings to the golden domes and every part of the temples reflects the South Indian temple design.
Along with the main deity, the temple complex also has a shrine of Goddess Padmavati, Anjaneya Swamy, Lord Ganesha and Vasavi Matha. The construction is still in progress to build a room for pilgrims to stay.
