Girnar Parvat Yatra / Girnar Parikrama:

Every year, on the occasion of Dev Diwali( around November month), the yatra will happen. Thousands of people from Gujarat & other states take part in the Girnar Parvat Yatra. The length of the Girnar Parikrama is about 38 km. Starting from Rupayatan and ending at Girnar Taleti. The road of the parikrama/yatra is in the Gir Forest area and opens up only for 5-10 days during Parikrama.

Dattatreya Temple is an ancient temple on Girnar Mountain. The Guru Dattatreya Temple is located at a hill located 10,000 steps above. Guru Dattatreya is considered to be the human manifestation of the Hindu trinity of Gods, Bramha Vishnu & Maheshwara.

  • Girnar Parikrama is 36 km, starting from DUDHESHWAR TEMPLE at GIRNAR TALETI
  • Starting from Dudheshwar Temple, people pass through dense forest in GHODI.
  • Then yatri head towards Zina Bava Ni Madhi. It is 12 Km away from bhavnath. One of the largest dam HASNAPUR DAM is located near Zina Bava.
  •  There is the beautiful temple CHANDRA-MAULESHWAR situated on the way of Girnar Parikrama Route Map. The probability of lions sighting here is maximum. This place is banned by the government. This place is also known as RANIYO KUVO.
  • Then again the journey starts from Zina Bava Ni Madhi to directly reach MALVELA. Malvela is a beautiful temple. It is 8 Km away from Zina Bava Ni Madhi.
  • There is another option like is to reach from Malvela via SARKHADIYA HANUMAN.  You can hear lion roars from this place. You can see deer around this place.
  •  Pilgrims can also visit Suraj-Kund from Sarkhadiya Hanuman.
  • After visiting all the above places now the pilgrims have to climb down the steep elevation of nalpani ghodi.
  • After they climb it down, they reach BORDEVI. Bordevi is a temple of GODDESS. It is 10 Km away from Bhavnath taleti. It is the last spot of the Girnar Parikrama.

How To Reach Girnar, Junagadh:

Girnar has located 5 km from Junagadh City. Major cities near Junagadh are Rajkot, Porbandar, and Ahmedabad.

By Air – There is no airport in Junagadh. The nearest airport is in Porbandar (86 km).

By Rail – There is a railway junction in Junagadh. You can easily get a train from any major city.

By Road – Junagadh is well connected to many cities of Gujarat. You can get a local bus, car, etc. to reach Junagadh.

Once you reach Junagadh, you can take private taxis or bus service, shuttle services to reach Girnar.

Where to Stay in Junagadh – Dharamshala in Junagadh Taleti:

You can find many Dharamshala around Girnar Taleti. Dharamshala is perfect to stay with family or groups, provide good facility rooms in the budget, and also offers delicious homely food.

Here are a few recommendations:

  1. Prernadham Lal Gebi Ashram – just 500 meters from Taleti, provides food, parking, group booking is available.

How many steps do we have to climb from the ropeway stop to reach Dattatreya temple? is the ropeway functioning now ie. for 22nd of October 2021?

Yes,Ropeway functioning properly .and Almost half way of steps (approx. 4500 -5000steps)you have to climb from the Ropeway ambaji stop to reach Dattatreya temple
