Girnar Bhavnath Mahashivratri Mela, Significance and How to Reach

The Girnar Shivratri Fair is at Bhavnath Temple at Girnar Taleti. Lakhs of people visit the Bhavnath Shivratri Fair. So, the Girnar Shivratri Fair is also famous as the Mini Kumbh. The Bhavnath Shivratri Fair begins 4 days before Maha Shivratri. So, the last day of Mela is Maha Shivratri.

The fair starts with flag hoisting by Naga saints and lasts 4 days. Several events are organised for 4 days of the fair. People wait to see sword stunts performed by Naga Saints. The Mela ends with a Ravadi by Naga saints procession and a bath in Mrigi Kund.

The saints perform Maha Aarti on the last day of Maha Shivratri.

The history of Bhvanath Temple is unknown as it is old. There’s a belief that while going across the Bhavnath Temple, the garments of Shiva and Parvati fell here.
