Udupi Krishna Temple is a historic Hindu temple located in Udupi, Mangalore, Karnataka. Udupi Krishna temple is dedicated to “Lord Krishna” and “Dvaita Matha”. The temple is surrounded by several temples one of which is the “Udupi Ananthaneshwara Temple” which is thousand years old.
History of Udupi Krishna Temple
Krishna Matha was founded by Vaishnavite saint Jagadguru Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. It is believed that Madhvacharya found the Murti of Shri Krishna in a large ball of gopichandana. Devotees can have the darshan of Lord Krishna through the inner window which is known as the Navagruha Kindi and the outer window known as the Kanakana Kindi which is decorated by an arch with his name on it.
