Yamunotri Temple Overview
Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Yamuna. The temple offers stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. It’s a beautiful temple where you obtain spiritual tranquillity and express your prayers.
It is one of the four sites in the Char Dham pilgrimage of Uttarakhand. Visitors can also reach the temple by a 6 km trek from Hanuman Chatti.
Yamunotri Temple History
The Yamunotri temple is a yellow conical-shaped tower with a beautiful red border at the top.
The temple was first constructed by King Sudarshan Shah in 1839 and was damaged by an earthquake after which Queen Gularia Devi took the initiative to renovate it in the 19th century. The temple had been destroyed twice by snow and floods before the renovation.

As you step inside the temple, you get to see the sacred idol of Goddess Yamuna. It is made of black marble with unique carvings. Also, there are two beautiful springs – Surya Kund and Gouri Kund which are of hot and cold water respectively.
