The Gangotri temple opens for six months every year, between the end of April and the beginning of November, due to heavy snowfall in the region during the winter months. The temple’s management committee and the priests decide the exact date for the opening and closing of the temple, which is announced well in advance.
About Gangotri Temple
Gangotri is a Hindu temple, dedicated to the goddess Ganga and a pilgrimage site located in the Uttarakhand, on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. It is one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism, known as the Char Dham. The temple is situated in the western region of the Garhwal Himalayas, at an elevation of 3,100 meters above sea level.

Gangotri Temple Opening and Closing Time
The temple opens from 6:15 AM to 2:00 PM. It closes for an hour and opens again at 3:00 PM. Gangotri temple closes for an hour in the afternoon, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 PM and then at 9:30 PM at night.

Gangotri Darshan Timings
