Kalkaji Mandir Timings

Kalkaji Mandir in Delhi is dedicated to Kalka Devi, a form of Durga Mata. The temple is also known as Jayanti Peeth and Manokamna Siddha Peet. It is believed this was a very ancient place of worship going back to the days when Durga Mata killed the demon Raktabeej.

The Murti enshrined here is a Swayambhu (Self Appeared) Murti. The temple is a miniature duplicate of the famed Vaishno Devi located in Katra. There are small temples of Kaal Bhairav and other gods inside the area as well. The Kali Mata idol is housed in a central chamber surrounded by a verandah with 36 arches.

History of Kalkaji Mandir, Delhi

The present temple was first constructed by the Marathas in 1746 CE and has been around for over 3000 years. The temple is dedicated to Mata Kali, who is the fierce form of Goddess Durga.

It is said that after suffering from the demon Raktabeej, all the deities went to Brahmaji and Brahmaji recommended them to go to Mata Parvati. All the deities along with Brahmaji appeared at the temple sites and performed prayer to Mata Parvati sitting there.

This is the place where Kalika Mata blessed the Devas who had prayed to her. It is believed Shri Krishna himself and the Pandavas worshipped at this temple during the Mahabharata era.

As a result, it is regarded as a holy temple where one might obtain Maa Kalika Devi’s blessings for the fulfillment of one’s aspirations. It is also known as Jayanthi Peeth and Manokamna Siddha Peeth.
