History of Pracheen Hanuman Mandir, Delhi
Delhi is a sacred city, which is mentioned as the Inderprasth in the Mahabharata. The Hindu devotees believe that the old Delhi is a majestic, spiritual and blessed place. The Pracheen Hanuman Mandir is an ancient temple and is said to be one of the five temples dating back to the Mahabharata era. The temple as seen today was first built by the Raja Man Singh of Amber and later renovated by Raja Jai Singh. The temple has a Swayambhu (self-appeared) Murti of Hanumanji in his Childhood form.
According to Hindu beliefs, Pandavs built five temples including this Hanuman mandir after they won the Kurukshetra war against the Kauravs. The deity of Hanuman is seen as Bala Hanuman, facing the south carrying Gadha in his left hand and his right hand rests over his chest as in prayers.
