We all know the importance of the Indian Railways and the role it plays in our lives.
Indian Railways now has a plan that will make the Char Dham Yatra much, much easier than what it is today. One of the biggest rail networks in the world, Indian Railways is now making possible something that was thought to be impossible.

Well, Indian Railways has started work on a project that will connect the four Abodes of God (Char Dham) by rail. In other words, devotees will now be able to visit Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath by train. Indian Railways has started work on a 327 km long rail line that will connect with the Char Dhams. Four different lines will be laid which will be inter-connected. The entire project will be in hilly and often inaccessible terrain. The railways will build several tunnels as a part of the project. This railway line will also cross through Dehradun, Pauri, Garhwal, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi. The cost of the project and the estimated date of completion has not been advised by the railways.
There are countless devotees who wish to go but are not able to undertake the difficult journey due to the present strenuous traveling conditions. They will now be able to fulfill their heart’s desire, with traveling made much easier and more comfortable. One can imagine the relief and joy this project will bring to countless senior citizens and physically challenged people who could, till now only dream of visiting these places. This rail network, once completed, will also make travel to the Char Dhams very convenient for families with kids and so many others.
