Temple is also known as the Thanumalayan Temple, located in the Suchindram district of Kanyakumari at a distance of 11 km from the Kanyakumari. The eye-catching feature of the temple is that the temple is dedicated to the trinity of God, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Brahma. Due to this the temple has high religious importance in India.

Temple famously also known as Sthanumalayan Perumal Temple, consists of around 30 other shrines and presents a captivating architecture. In the name Sthanumalayan, Sthanu means Lord Shiva, Mal means Lord Vishnu, and Aya means Lord Brahma.

History of Suchindram Temple

The ancient Suchindram temple is said to be raised during the 17th century.  However, a few parts of the temple have the evidence to be built from back 8th to the 15th century. The land got its name from the Sthala Purana, according to Hindu mythological legends, the God Indra got free from the curse at this holy place.

A very beautiful and holy land where all three main deities of Gods, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Lord Brahma are worshiped.

Architecture of Suchindram Temple

As South Indian style entrance of the temple is made up of Gopuram of seven stories, with the perfect design craved by the different God and Goddess.

The major attraction of the temple is its 4 musical pillars with a height of 18 feet.  These pillars when stuck create the melodies and musical sound, showing the stunning piece of architecture.

As you enter the temple Sanctum Sanctorum, there is a shrine for Lord Vishnu. The idol of the temple is made up of different 8 types of metals. On the other side, there is the idol of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.
