Places to visit in Jaipur

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal is a palace in Jaipur, India. It is constructed of red and pink sandstone. The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Its unique five-story exterior is akin to the honeycomb of a beehive. It has 953 small windows called jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework.

Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal is a palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur city. The Jal Mahal palace is an architectural showcase of the Rajput style of architecture on a grand scale. The palace, built in red sandstone, is a five-storied building. Out of five floors, four floors remain underwater when the lake is full.

Amer Fort

Amer Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan. Amer is a town located 11 Km from Jaipur. It is located high on a hill. Amer fort has large ramparts and a series of gates and cobbled paths. The fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace.

City Palace

The palace complex is located northeast of the center of Jaipur city. It includes the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal palaces and other buildings. It was the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The Chandra Mahal palace now houses a museum, but the greatest part of it is still a royal residence. It incorporates an impressive and vast array of courtyards, gardens and buildings.

Jantar Mantar

In the early 18th century, Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur constructed five Jantar Mantars in total. The Jantar Mantar is an equinoctial sundial. It consists a gigantic triangular gnomon with the hypotenuse parallel to the Earth’s axis On either side of the gnomon is a quadrant of a circle, parallel to the plane of the equator. The instrument is intended to measure the time of day.

Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur. The fort was originally named Sudarshan Garh. It came to be known as Nahargarh, which means ‘abode of tigers. Walls extended over the surrounding hills, forming fortifications that connected this fort to Jaigarh.

Birla Mandir, Jaipur

Birla Temple, Jaipur At the foot of Moti Dungri fort. Birla Temple of Jaipur looks stunning when it is brightly lit at the night. The temple was built by the Birla Group of Industries. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. Birla Temple is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple. Birla Mandir is constructed in the finest quality white marble. The three huge domes of the temple represent three different approaches to religion.

Jaipur Zoo

Jaipur Zoo is in the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan state in India. It is divided into two parts: one for mammals and the other for birds and reptiles.
In the year 1999, the gharial breeding farm is established which is the fourth largest breeding farm in India.  A museum was also constructed inside the zoo which exhibits the wildlife of Rajasthan. The main objective of the zoo is to complement the national effort in conservation of wildlife.

Govind Dev Ji Temple

The Vaishnava temple Govind Dev Ji is situated in the City Palace complex. This temple is among the 7 temples of Thakur of Vrindavan. The image of the deity (murti) was brought from Vrindavan here by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur.
There are three murtis. The first one came to be known as “Madan Mohanji”. The second one was called as Lord “Gopinathji” and the Third One is LORD “Govind Devji”.

Galtaji

Galtaji is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage in the Aravali Range 10 km away from Jaipur. A natural spring emerges high on the hill and flows downward, filling a series of sacred kinds in which pilgrims bathe. The main temple is the temple of Galtaji, built in pink stone. The temple features a number of pavilions with rounded roofs, carved pillars, ad painted walls. The complex is set around a natural spring and waterfalls that create 7 pools.
