About Tara Tarini Shaktipeeth
Taratarini Shakti Peeth near Brahmapur in Odisha is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of India. It is also one of the four Adi Shakti Peeths. This is a very ancient pilgrimage. Tara Tarini Devi was the Kuldevi of the kings of the mighty Kalinga Empire, more than 2500 years ago. Tara Tarini is a major center for the Tantrik Sect and a part of Buddhist Tantrism. This ancient pilgrimage had faded from memory many centuries ago but was miraculously revived in the 17th century CE.
Rushikulya River and Maa Ganga
Tara Tarini Shaktipeeth is located atop a hill that is on the banks of the Rushikulya River. This sacred river is known as the elder sister of Maa Ganga. Lord Krishna had advised the Pandavas to pray at all the four Adi Shaktipeeths for victory. There are 1000 steps leading to the temple and a ropeway is also available to get to the top.
Chaitra Yatra in Tara Tarini Temple
Chaitra Yatra is held every Tuesday of Chaitra Month every year in Tara Tarini Temple Behrampur. It is a month-long weekly festival. Thousands of devotees visit the 17th-century shrine during yatra to seek blessings from the presiding deity.

In 2022, Chaitra Yatra will be held on 22nd March and 29th March, 5th April, and 12th April.
